Once upon a time, when I was a heavy smoker, I bought a pack of cigarettes from a guy outside a gas station. He told me they were from Mexico, but just as good as the cigarettes you buy here. They were 2 dollars.

As it turns out, counterfeit cigarettes are not good. Really not good...

I know right?!? Me too! I feel like it has made me better, given me examples, and ideas, and something more to work towards. Of course, sometimes I see someone who's like, incredible and then I feel bad about myself, but it still makes me want to try harder! I totally agree with you. Making art isn't always easy, and seeing someone that is "better" than yourself at a particular thing makes you want to improve your art.
